It Started by Accident.
Pre-Paid Legal Services® , Inc. was formed by Harland C. Stonecipher in 1972 after he had a costly brush with lawyers stemming from a head-on automobile accident on July 11, 1969. Although he wasn't at fault, his legal bills accumulated rapidly. He had auto insurance, medical insurance and life insurance. The only type of protection he didn't have was for legal services.
